Year 3 had such a fun and interactive experience at the start of Autumn B, learning about the Ancient Egyptians from Professor Stuart Makins from 'Portals to the Past'.

He invited children to act out the history of the Pharaohs from Narmer to Cleopatra, encouraging them to participate in theatrical stage directions under his instruction! We then had the opportunity to play traditional Ancient Egyptian board games, as well as using a cubit (Ancient Egyptian measuring ruler for creating the pyramids and more) to measure objects ourselves. Later, we learnt about the fascinating (and gory!) tradition of Mummification, where children were invited to wrap a body, pull out the necessary organs and get fully immersed in the experience!

What an amazing way to kick off our history unit for this term!

What an incredible immersive experience Year 3 had at David Hockney's Light Room! The children were exposed to a room filled with colour from his early paintings to his photographic work. During the exhibition, Hockney speaks to his audience, sharing the process involved when creating some of his paintings. We all left feeling inspired to create our own printing artwork, which we can't wait to share with you at our class assembly and open afternoon!
