We offer access to a range of music lessons at Prae Wood. These are mostly available for children in Key Stage 2, although a small number of options are introduced to pupils in KS1 as they approach the transition to KS2. They complement music teaching that is delivered to all children as part of their national curriculum learning in school and, as such, there is a charge to take part in the majority of musical activities. Instrument lessons take place during the school day and pupils leave lessons to attend. The majority of the timetables rotate so that children do not miss the same lesson each week, but there is not extra time available for 'catch-up'.

Lessons take place at the same time each week as, historically, many pupils take part at the same time so teachers work around this.

Djembe
Prae Wood Primary School and Herts Music Service
All children in Year 5 take part in group Djembe drum lessons, led by an external teacher and supported by our in-school music teacher, Mrs Tinkler. These lessons are free to all Year 5 children and provided in partnership with Herts Music Service.
In the summer term, we hope to extend these lessons to pupils in Year 2 as well, to enthuse them about music making ahead of the start of KS2
Assistance with fees
